We have seven, single-sided roadside signboards located around Porirua, which you can hire on a monthly basis, specifically for promoting Porirua-based community and city events.
The content of the signboards must therefore focus on a community event or message without advertising for other goods or services.
Signboard can be installed up to four weeks prior to your date of your event (subject to availability), and must be removed no later than two days after your event.
Each signboard is 2440mm wide x 1220mm high and sits 1000mm off the ground, except for the Mana Esplanade location which is 1000m wide x 1500mm high.
To request a booking, fill out our signboard application form below. Once we’ve received your request, we’ll confirm availability and provide a quote within five working days. Bookings are subject to demand and are confirmed at the Council’s discretion.

We’re unable to take bookings for events that aren’t confirmed. Bookings are for a month at a time, but if you need to book for a longer or shorter time, please get in touch.

We will organise production and installation of your signboard/s at your cost. You’ll just need to supply us with your artwork as a vector file.
All signboards are digitally printed on corflute with anti-grafitti laminate for protection.
Signboards are read primarily by passing motorists. To keep the boards legible, you must keep to the following specifications for any artwork you supply:
We’ll send you an invoice in the month after the signboards have been erected. This must be paid within seven days, unless you’ve made other arrangements with the Council.
The council has resource consent for the permanent frames and the temporary signs they contain. However the conditions set down by Council and New Zealand Transport Agency below must be complied with. Council retains the right to confiscate and dispose of signs that contravene conditions, or have not been officially booked, or have not been removed by due date (at your own cost).
Signboards must comply with Porirua City Council General Bylaw 1991 – Part 15 Signs.
