One of Porirua City’s many strengths is its diverse population. Acknowledging and celebrating diversity means people feel a strong sense of belonging, connection, safety, and confidence to express who they are and what is important to them.
Is an aspirational and progressive Pacific strategy that celebrates and recognises the cultural fabric that encompasses the ethnic-specific nations of the Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Niue, Rotuma, Samoa, Tonga, Tokelau, Tuvalu. The strategy acknowledges the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea as the Ministry for Pacific Peoples has announced Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea as recognised Pacific Language Week nations in 2024.
Porirua City would like to acknowledge and thank the Pacific families and communities who contributed to the development of Porirua City's first strategy. In particular we acknowledge the Ministry for Pacific Peoples who have supported our journey in the development of this strategy.
