We are proposing amendments to the Porirua City Council General Bylaw 1991: Part 16A – Speed Limits. The amendments would set speed limits on the new roads constructed as part of Transmission Gully that will be vested with Council. The reasons for the proposed changes are to set a speed limit that is safe and appropriate for the road.
There are sections where Transmission Gully connects to the existing roading network where the default 100 km/h speed limit for motorways is not suitable.
Waka Kotahi and Porirua City Council seek your feedback in the proposed speed limits for those parts of SH1, the sections of SH59 that have been realigned or built as part of the motorway construction, motorway on and off ramps, and the new Porirua Link roads.
Consultation is being undertaken by Waka Kotahi on behalf of the Council, in accordance with the requirements of Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2017.
