Local Elections

Porirua City Council's next local election will be held on 11 October 2025.

Your Mayor

Anita is the Mayor of Porirua City. She was elected in 2019, and reelected in 2022 for a term of three years. Say kia ora when you spot her.

Councillors

Councillors are here to represent your views. Have a yarn with them about your ideas for your local area when you see them.

Governance

Your elected Council are the governors of the City. Administration is the job of the Chief Executive and her team.

Committees

Committees are the workhorses of Council, where elected members, staff, advisors and you work together to identify the best course of action for the City and make it happen.

Citizenship ceremonies

The Porirua Mayor hosts up to five ceremonies per year to award new New Zealanders with citizenship.

Anzac Day is observed in New Zealand as a day of commemoration for those who have died in the service of their country and to honour returned and current servicemen and servicewomen.
