Porirua City hosts a number of citizenship ceremonies a year at Pātaka Art + Museum. All those attending should arrive at 5pm for a 5.30pm start.

If your application to become a citizen is approved, you must attend a citizenship ceremony in-person and make an oath of allegiance to the sovereign. This is an opportunity for you to declare your allegiance to New Zealand in public, and for our community to welcome you on behalf of all New Zealanders.
At the ceremony, you will stand before the Mayor and make either an oath or affirmation of allegiance to honour the sovereign and obey the laws of New Zealand, and be a good citizen.
After swearing your allegiance to the sovereign, you become a New Zealand citizen and receive a certificate confirming your New Zealand citizenship.
