My principal place of residence is not in the Northern/Pukerua ki te Raki Ward area.
I've been a proud Porirua resident and business owner for over forty years.
A previous Deputy Mayor, I'm standing again after a three year break because I believe the council must be refocused on core issues like essential infrastructure, housing and roading issues. We must also face up to a changing climate while balancing the need for ongoing economic growth and attracting investment.
I've got a reputation for a no nonsense approach to decision making and for strong advocacy. We certainly need that now as it appears the city's political leadership is weak and lacks experience.
Rates and spending needs to be controlled and better oversight of decisions is vital. Otherwise, we risk being an unaffordable place for many people to live.
Community involvement is a key requirement for a councillor. I'm involved with rotary, have chaired the chamber of commerce and am a JP.
