It’s time to nominate Porirua’s finest people and communities for one of the 2018 New Zealander of the Year Awards, says Mayor Mike Tana.
“This is our chance to recognise those amazing people who make a difference in our lives, through their selflessness, generosity and ambition.”
Nominations are open now for New Zealander of the Year and the associated categories of youth, senior, community, innovator and local hero of the year.
“We are blessed with incredible people in Porirua whose actions are inspiring examples for our own lives. Let’s take the time now to celebrate and acknowledge these people. I encourage all Porirua residents to take a moment and nominate a special person or community that represents the very best of us.”
The annual New Zealander of the Year Awards recognise a diverse range of people from all fields including science, business, the arts, cultural and community involvement, sport, education and health.
The awards are open to New Zealanders of all ages whose actions have inspired the communities they serve and the country as a whole.
Nominations close on the 18 September 2017. Any member of the public can nominate an individual or community organisation through the New Zealander of the Year website.
The winners will be announced on 21 February 2018.
