I was recently privileged to help present the Partners Porirua Youth Awards to 16 exceptional young people doing fantastic things in our community.
The awards, which were established in 2010, celebrate the achievements of Porirua youth in sport, education, STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths), art and culture, and community work. They also provide the winners with a small financial contribution that can go towards supporting their ongoing education and development.
They are run by the great team at Partners Porirua and supported by our Council, the Porirua Foundation and a whole lot of generous local businesses and individuals. The Partners Porirua Youth Awards help inspire and encourage Porirua’s next generation of leaders and achievers. They also acknowledge the positive role that young people play in making Porirua a vibrant, diverse, and forward-looking city.
We are very lucky to have an organisation in our city like Partners Porirua that is focused on building partnerships between our communities, businesses, and schools. The reality is that we live in an increasingly complex world, and there are so many challenges that our young people are now expected to face. I always find it inspiring to see them rise to meet these challenges and excel in what they do. Congratulations to all the following award winners:
