Construction begins at Spicer Landfill

Construction has begun at Spicer Landfill to develop the next refuse disposal cell.

The work is scheduled to continue to mid-2026, but is not expected to disrupt daily operations.

During this time the landfill will remain open during its normal hours. There is no change for accessing or exiting the tipping area.

There are some changes users might notice over the next few weeks:

• reduced speed restrictions on Broken Hill Rd
• increased traffic – earth moving trucks and heavy vehicles on Broken Hill Rd
• look out for trucks crossing and new Give Way signs at intersections
• a new location for green waste drop-off – follow signs/directions from staff to the new green waste area
• new Keep Out / No Access signs – no public access to the old green waste and clean fill drop off areas.

Thank you for your patience while this work is done and please pay attention to speed restrictions, safety signs, and instructions from landfill staff if you're using the area.
